An Afternoon of Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra

22 January 2012, 1.00-4.00pm
Iffley Church Hall, Iffley Village, Oxford

Are you curious about the very essence of Yoga? Have you come across the terms ‘mindfulness’ and ‘being’ and wondered what they really mean? Do you want to dive deeply into resting in your innate peaceful self?

Then come and experience this day of restorative Yoga practice, deep relaxation and meditation.

Workshop outline

You have experienced Yoga Nidra before – it’s that same feeling you get in those moments just as you awake, when having faced a conundrum the day before, the solution comes to you effortlessly. For centuries, Yoga masters have refined a system for harnessing the innate wisdom that many of us only chance upon after deep rest.

Based upon the extraordinary teachings of Dr Richard Miller, you will learn techniques to help you uncover your radiant inner self. There will be slow, gentle and mindful Hatha Yoga to create sensitivity in your body  (a sensitivity to yourself, if you like) and then, most significantly, you will learn the Yoga Nidra techniques of what Dr Miller calls ‘Integrative Restoration’, helping you unfold the levels of your being to step beyond them and into tranquility.

In Yoga Nidra we become aware of all the different aspects and parts of our disparate selves through body sensing, breath awareness, and by balancing our emotions, thoughts and beliefs as they arise in our awareness. With practice and time, and as those layers of your being harmonise, you naturally unveil what lies constant and unyielding behind all aspects of your experience: presence, peace, a natural joy and heart-felt contentment.

The teachings of Dr Miller are the most profound and special I have come across in all of my years of study and all of my time as a spiritual seeker. Call off the search and find peace in this moment.

"From the very first Yoga session, people discover the intimacy that nature has established between awareness and physiology. Getting back in touch with this intimacy is very reassuring and delightful, particularly for people who have given up on exercise and become virtual strangers to their bodies"
