iRest and Mindfulness

Coach House, Headington starting 13th September 2010 for 12 weeks (half term 25th October 2010) MONDAYS 8PM to 9.30PM all levels

We come into this world from a safe place; a warm and watery womb where all our needs are met. Our first experience of life is struggle - a fight for our breath, the sting of cold air in our lungs, and a feeling that we will not survive. We feel unsafe.

As we develop, we create strategies to help us feel safer and this develops into our personalities. As time goes on we become conditioned and habitual in our thinking and behavior.

This is the story of my life. This is the story of your life. This is the story of every human life.

yet, we are so much more than our conditioning. Underneath all of the layers of tension, all of our patterns of defense, all of the stresses of the body, mind and emotions we are still that radiant, peaceful self.

Ask yourself a question; what is your hearts desire? I'm not talking about a new house or less hours at work; these are external, removable things. What do you want for yourself and within yourself?

if your answer comes in words like happiness, contentment, peace of mind, then this course is for you.

Course Outline

Based Upon the extraordinary teachings of Dr Richard Millar, you will learn techniques to help you uncover your radiant, inner self. There will be slow, gentle and mindful Hatha Yoga to create sensitivity in your body; a sensitivity to yourself if you like. You will learn a sequence of breathing researched and created specifically to bring ease and stability to the mind. Perhaps most significantly, you will learn the technique of iRest, or Integrative Restoration - helping you unfold the levels of your being to step beyond them into tranquility.

In Yoga Nidra we become aware of all the different aspects and parts of our disparate selves; through body sensing, breath awareness, and balancing emotions, thoughts and beliefs as they arise in our awareness. With practice and time and as those layers of your being harmonise you naturally unveil what is always there - presence, peace and a natural joy and heart felt contentment.

The teachings are the most profound and special I have come across in all of my years of study and all of my time as a spiritual seeker. Call off the search and find peace in this moment.

"From the very first Yoga session, people discover the intimacy that nature has established between awareness and physiology. Getting back in touch with this intimacy is very reassuring and delightful, particularly for people who have given up on exercise and become virtual strangers to their bodies"
Dr. Deepak Chopra
