Course title - Introduction to Hatha Yoga

Introduction to Hatha Yoga, Iffley Church Hall, Iffley Village starting 7th January 2010 for 12 weeks THURSDAYS 6.30 to 8PM beginners/level 1

Course Outline

This course aims at introducing key concepts of movement and posture. Over the 12 weeks the student will learn Asana (posture), Pranayama (breath work or control), and Dharana (concentration/mindfulness).

The course includes instruction around a number of beginners postures, an introduction to the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar), and explanation on the attitudes that distinguish Hatha Yoga from other forms of physical exercise. Much of the course content will be be based around Yoga Therapy, a technique used to help recover from accidents, injuries and stress to the body. We will focus on breath and breathing techniques, thus taking the yoga from a simple set of stretches into a deeper practice to rejuvenate and refresh the body and mind.

This course is aimed at beginners, those that have practiced any style of yoga for less than one year or for people wishing to return to Yoga practice after a long break.

Mats are provided. Just wear clothing that won't restrict your movement and bring a bottle of water.

Note: this is the only suitable course I run for those with injuries

The 12-week course will be charged at £78 working out to be £6.50 per session. The course charges are payable in advance and bookings will be taken on a first come first serve basis.
