Intermediate Sivananda Yoga Iffley Church Hall, Iffley Village starting 16th September 2010 for 11 weeks (half term 21st and 28th October 2010)THURSDAYS 8PM to 9.30pm Improvers/Intermediate/level 2-3
Course outline
These classes are focused at the intermediate Yoga student and integrate explorations into the subtleties of practice within the context of intermediate Asana. What does intermediate mean? Really, to have a good experience and practice level of any style of Yoga. I would say 2-3 years or more of Yoga experience but that can mean many different things to different people. Are you strong and flexible? Do you keep up with your Yoga practice? are are you looking to get back to your mat and need a kick start and an inspiration to practice again? This class is for you.
Come and learn how to practice inversions (Headstands, Handstands and Shouderstands), arm balances for upper body tone, and challenging hip openers, back bends and twists. I teach in a progressive way so you won't be forced into poses you are not ready for. You will always have the option to explore at your own pace and in your own time.
The roots of this class come from Sivananda Yoga but it includes so much more; discover secrets of Pranayama, the progression of Samyama (concentration, contemplation and absorption; the true meaning of Yoga), feeling and sensing Prana within Asana and the chance to open yourself in new ways. Most intermediate Yogis and Yoginis like to practice alone but this class offers you the chance to connect with other aspiring people on the path who have similar levels of practice ability.
All of this happens in the stunning location of Iffley Church Hall; ambient light, oak beams, peace and quiet and the chance to connect with the deepest part of your being which is always present, waiting to be revealed. Warning, you may feel deeply peaceful and struggle to reconnect with your former stressed self!!
The course will run for 11 weeks, exposing the student to all parts of the practice in a structured way.
